 Gases

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – a nonflammable, colorless, odorless gas. Carbonic Group supplies carbon dioxide gas in high pressure compressed gas cylinders or liquid cylinders.

What are the uses of Carbon Dioxide(CO2)?

Carbon Dioxide is used as a refrigeration gas, as a blanketing gas for chemical reactions and other applications requiring a chemically inert gas. The Bone Dry and Anaerobic Grades of Carbon Dioxide are used as atmospheres for anaerobic incubation in microbiology labs. Coleman Instrument Grade is a carrier gas for the Coleman Oxygen Analyzer. Medical carbon dioxide is used for various medical purposes, such as in its liquid phase, where it provides sub-zero temperatures for cryotherapy or other surgical practices.

Helium (He) – a colorless, odorless, tasteless inert gas at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Helium gas is available in compressed gas cylinders, liquid cylinders, andb bulk.

What are the uses of Helium?

Helium is one of the most inert gases and lighter than air. It is used as a cooling media in nuclear reactions and other studies. It is also used as an inert atmosphere for crystal growing. It is used to fill fluorescent lamps and as a leak detection fluid. Zero Grade and UHP Helium are the most commonly used carrier gas for Flame Ionization (FlD) and Thermal Conductivity (TCD) gas chromatography. Liquid Helium is used in cryogenic research.

Properties of Helium:

Molecular Weight: 4.003
Specific Volume: 96.7 CF/lb
Flammable Limits: Nonflammable
CGA Valve: 580, 3HP-677, 2HP-680
DOT Name:
Helium, Compressed
UN No.: UN1046
DOT Class: 2.2
DOT Label: Nonflammable
CAS Registry: 7440-59-7

Nitrogen gas (N2) - is a colorless, ordorless, nonflammable or a colorless, odorless, nonflammable cryogenic gas. It makes up 78.03% of air. Nitrogen is often used as an inert gas because of its nonreactive nature with many materials. Nitrogen gas is available in cylinders and bulk.

What are the uses of Nitrogen?

Nitrogen gas is used as an inert atmosphere in food and chemical processing, as an atmosphere for crystal growing and a carrier gas for gas chromatography.

Medical Nitrogen NF This colorless, odorless, nonflammable gas constitutes a major portion (78.03%) of the earth's atmosphere. Nitrogen is relatively nonreactive and can act as a simple asphyxiant by displacing air.

Properties of Nitrogen Gas:

Molecular Weight: 28.01
Specific Volume: 13.8 CF/lb
Flammable Limits: Nonflammable
CGA Valve: 580
DOT Name:
Nitrogen, Compressed
UN No.: UN1066
DOT Class: 2.2
DOT Label: Nonflammable Gas
CAS Registry: 7727-37-9
